2 Days with Juliana Haygert ~ Day 1 Interview with a CONTEST

Hello everyone, please welcome Day 1 of 2 Days with Juliana Haygert. Juliana is here with us today at Sensuous Promos for an interview and to share with us a little bit about herself and her work.

Juliana, thank you for joining us today. I know the readers are eager to get to know you , so let’s get started.

Can you tell us a little bit about where you are from?

I’m from Brazil. I lived in the US from 2004 to 2009, and I’ve been back to the US since March 2012.

I love Brazil, with its faults and everything. It’s a great place, probably greater than most people realize, but there are big problems too. I know it’ll never be perfect, but I hope it gets better and better.

What does your writing desk look like? What would we find on it right this minute?

I have an office, though it’s still not organized. I plan on having some neat built-in shelves done in the future, but for now I have an Ikea desk on a corner and some wobbly shelves ;)

When and why did you begin writing?

I was 13yo and my Portuguese teacher assigned a class project to write a short book. I guess this is common here in the US, but it isn’t in Brazil. Since then, I’ve been writing non-stop.
At what point did you first consider yourself a writer?

What inspired you to write your first book?

My first manuscript was about Ancient Egypt – and I just simply love all things Ancient Egypt. When I was younger, I used to say I would get another BA in History, so I could go to Master School and become an Egyptologist ;)

Do you have a specific writing style? In other words, are you a plotter or a pantser?

It depends on the book, but usually it’s a little bit of plotting and pantsing. I use a beatsheet (from Save the Cat! book), if necessary I expand a few beats, but then I just go with it.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Shiny new ideas. Seriously. I mean, you’re there, focused on writing your pretty novel, typing the words in rush, desperate to finish, then boom! A shiny new idea comes and starts shimming before your eyes. It’s horrible lol

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Richelle Mead. Anything she writes is amazing, well-thought, well-plotted, fast-paced. It’s full of romance and action, and I just adore all of her books!

Do you have a cover artist you’ve worked with that you’d like to give props to?

Sarah Hansen from Okay Creations. She’s fantastic! She’s like the goddess of covers.
What was the hardest part of writing your book(s)?

Do you have any advice to offer other writers?

Read, read, write. Read, read, write. Engage into the writing community—everyone is amazing. And don’t give up.

Where can our readers find you on the world wide web?

Thanks so much for joining us here today, Juliana! It was fun getting to know you and I can't wait until we get a sneak peek into your book, His Allure, Her Passion tomorrow!
